Focus into Africa

A spotlight on growth and investment opportunities taking place across Sub-Saharan Africa, were among the main topics for of the 2019 Africa Real Estate Investor Forum.

The forum, which took place on 8 November at Knight Frank’s London offices was organised by Ace Corporate Events, is a platform for top tier global investors, funds and property professionals to interact with experts on the ground to gain insights and better understand the regions real estate markets.

David Harper, Head of Property Services for Hotel Partners Africa, led the panel on the Africa Hotel Market which included Paul Mack, Executive Director, the Latitude Hotel Group, Faruk Aliyu, Managing Director, Shelter Suites & Hotels, and David Damiba, Chief Executive Officer, Kasada Capital Management. They discussed issues such as which hotel market offers the best investment and development prospects, value rises across the continent and hurdles to entry.

Harper said: “Determining which markets are the most appealing depends on many factors, including your risk profile and any geographic bias you may have as an investor. Many of the 54 countries offer exceptional opportunities, but not all will appeal to all types of investors”.

Programme highlights included: investor confidence in African real estate; financing real estate; developing smart cities in Africa; a sector focus on the continents retail industry, and a look at cross border investment between the UK and Africa.
